[Regia-NA] Geteld construction

I went to the Regia Canada files and looked at the
Geteld plans. I don't quite understand how the sleeve
for the cross-bar works. Is it just ties that go
around it on the inside, or is there an actual sewn
sleeve across the top? I like the idea of using the
side as a canopy in the daytime.
I have about 40 yards of 60" wide cotton duck. Will
that work for the cover? It's white now, but I thought
of painting something on it for decoration.
