Insofar as English is a Germanic language, yes. If you mean the widely 
held theory that English is somehow an evolved form of Anglo-Saxon, no. 
  It's a very interesting pice, and I've been following this thread of 
argument for a few months now.  I find that it fits the facts better 
than the generally accepted and little questioned version.
