Eric,

Welcome! We're separated by a lot of California, but you'd be welcome to come to any of our local living history group meetings ( in the San Francisco Bay Area). We get together the second Saturday of most months. Our Yule feast is coming up in December and you and your family would be most welcome.

Here's a link to a site I'm putting together with some information about us:

Greetings,

I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m a 40 year old
librarian in San Diego, California. In addition to my
library degree I have an interdisciplinary master’s
from NYU. While there I took a course in medieval
English history from Norman Cantor. I wrote a paper
for him on Anglo-Saxon resistance after the Battle of
Hastings for which he gave me an A. So I guess I know
a bit about the period in question. I’ve been into
things medieval since my teens (Yes I did play
Dungeons and Dragons) but have only recently made it
into a lifestyle sort of thing. My wife, children and
I attend most of the ren faires in Southern California
and I’m also involved in the Belegarth Medieval Combat
Society a very athletic foam fighting group. While I
love these light hearted historically based activities
I’m also interested in doing something serious. I’m
not interested in accuracy for the snob valor of it
but because I have an academic and research background
and it just feels better to get it right. I’m most
intrigued by RA because its mission is educational. I
really hope it can take off in America. Is anyone on
this list from Southern California?

Eric
