You know how you file something away most carefully and the damned computer eats it and despite all your searching it
never appears again?

Well, the opposite just happened to me and I am stumped as to how it has happened.

Some six months ago, I transferred all the photos I took whilst testing mail samples with spears under laboratory
conditions into a new folder. Without checking the new folder, I deleted the temporary one from whence they came.

Naturally, the new folder resolutely told me it was empty. Swine!

As it was empty, I frequently dropped images in there when cutting and pasting or attaching resized versions of pictures
to e-mails as it was only two layers down the trail from the drive directory. It was in frequent use and never had
anything in it I wasn't expecting.

This morning, I clicked on it in order to clear out some images I'd been working on and LO!, the thumbnails started to
generate for all the lost images. I opened each one and closed it again, made a new folder and transferred them there -
and yes, there they are!

An odd thing in an otherwise odd day, some of the pics were designated as tif's, a format I never use.

Any ideas, anyone?
