[Regia-NA] About productions based on historical legends?

remember most movies made in the 50s & 60s were controlled by and afraid of
the Mc Carthy-istic area poisonings. Plus the sensors which Roman Scandals
(excellent Eddie Cantor movie, yes I own it!!! Just got 5 Cary Grant movies
also!) cause to come into existence. (Androclese & the Lion)

The Moral Majority came into being just after WWII which crimped a lot of
what Hollywood did. Independent films were coming out in the mid to late
50s (Outlaw) and the movie studios were trying to hold on to the Glamour and
Tinsel Town they created.

With the 60s and the sexual revolution coming into full swing you an see the
changes in the costumes in period pieces. Americans were becoming more
educated and wanted more realism. The Lion in Winter (1968) is a prime
example of a costume drama very close to period.

But these moves and dinner theatre (I love the Excalibur show, I still have
my ticket stub from the grand opening in 1992!) do bring more interest into
the fold. It also re-introduces chivalry to kids today, archaic I know, but
I have had a door opened recently by a young man.
