The rank structure is employed varyingly in different Regia local groups.

As a general guideline, dress according to what you're doing - if you're
doing a high ranking activity, dress as a high ranking person, if you're
doing something menial, dress as an appropriately lower rank to do so (this
really only applies if you're in public of course}.

Bear in mind that the old handbook is - well - old, and thinking on some
things has moved along a bit. A new handbook is undergoing gestation and
should appear in the course of time.

I'll leave more knowledgeable heads to answer the craftsmen question, though
I'm sure there were by our period - the spread of pottery finds from
Stamford et al would seem to indicate dedicated craft producion centres.
