Re-embroidery, my advice would be (and this is only if you haven't done so
already) is to do your embroidery on a separate strip of cloth and sew it to
the dress. I am convinced that this is what would have been done, rather
than embroidering directly onto the dress. Think how much easier to remove
the decoration when the dress was handed on!
It also saves the dress cloth from damage if you have a problem with the
embroidery.
