We do have a major problem in that mail is almost impossible to date out =

context.  Very few pieces of mail have been exposed to metalurgical =
testing
(that would prove the origin).


--not to mention very few period (ours) mail finds are in good shape.
it is very hard to tell the original shape/cross section of the links =
when the mail is found in one corroded lump;)
even single links that have spent time in the ground have corroded =
enough to have lost at least some of the original shape.
