I'm not aware of any events, but I highly recommend a visit to Iceland for
anyone with an interest in the Viking age. One disappointment -- the
National Museum will still be closed this fall (it's been closed for
several years for renovations), which means that a lot of the collection is
spread out in regional museums throughout the country.

Sorry, but that doesn't sound right. According to the Icelandic
Meteorological Office (http://www.vedur.is/english/megin.html), the lowest
recorded temperature in Reykjav=EDk in April is -16.4C (+2F), and the usual
low temperature is right around freezing.
Because of the Gulf stream, temperatures are pretty constant: a bit above
freezing in summer, a bit below in winter. It's the wind and rain and snow
and clouds that can change in the blink of an eye.
