My apologies. The book was "Sea Kings and Dragon Ships" (1964). The
following description is taken from the "Saga of the Kings of Norway" which
accompanied the woodcut.

"Of his dress, it is said that he wore a blue tunic and hose, high shoes
bound about the leg, a grey cloak and a wide grey hat and a scarf about his
face, and he held a staff in his hand, with a silver-gilt hand on top and bound
about with a ring of silver. Of King Sigurdr's character, it is said that he
was a great worker and farmer in matters to do with his livestock and farm,
and was himself in charge of all work. He was not a man given to much
display, and was somewhat tactiturn."
