Dear Folk,
    Greetings. Like Kenneth, I have recently signed up for this list and was looking for a way to introduce myself. My name is Dave Sykes and I live and teach in San Diego, CA. I too have been through the disappointment of waiting for the S.C.A. to move beyond their superficial dealings with history. There are many good/wonderful people (and I have many friends) in the Society but my history background and training has left me impatient and looking for more depth. with your kind permission , I would like to tag along and join your group.

  I have just joined this mailing list. My name is Kenneth Mortimer and I am located in Dunedin, Florida, in the Tampa Bay area. I have found this mailing list through, originally, a Google search on information pertaining to medieval blacksmithing. I have found the Regia Anglorum site before and am fascinated with the earnest attempt at the maximum historical accuracy safety allows. I have always been a historian first and a re-enactor second, but local groups (such as the Society for Creative Anachronism) seem to be more concerned with the "weekend warrior" attitude than any sort of research or discovery.
