Try looking through eBay.com antiquities for ancient lighting devices.
They frequently have some real items that are amazing.
You may find more pictures there than you will in books.

Roman and greek and palestininan terracotta oil lamps, metal
Byzantine oil lamps, wrought iron candlestands, etc.
