I thought a lot of people in the area might be interested in the museum
exhibit going on down in RI this weekend.

Some time about 1025 AD...
Ragnarr Thorbergsson is a Dane who settled in Iceland. He owns a
boat called Særhest (Seahorse), and takes a crew out to trade each year.
Sometimes they voyage to Sweden in the east, stopping in England or
Ireland. Ragnarr is a man well known for his weather luck, but also one who
speaks bold and accomplishes less. Despite this, he has gathered a fairly
regular crew who will travel with him.
Ragnarr has decided to leave Iceland and move to Greenland, drawn
by the reports of open land and fair pastures. The boat is loaded with four
other families, their personal gear, and a few workers. This time his
weather luck has failed, and a storm has blown them off course far to the
south. Knowing this must be the 'Vinland' that they have heard so much
about, they have decided to explore a while before they move on to
Greenland.

A living history presentation by :

The Dark Ages Re-creation Company
(Ontario - Canada)
DARC is composed of people interested in using living history to research
aspects of life in Northern Europe during the Viking Age. This is
accomplished through workshops where the focus is on developing traditional
skills as we create accurate replicas of period artefacts. Our historic
events are centered on the 'camp', where the activities revolve around
'daily life' and the interaction of carefully researched characterizations.
The Company further strives to provide a resource of skilled and
experienced historic interpreters and physical demonstrators to museums and
educational programs.
