For any of you that may happen to be in the UK in November...

Annually the Regia UK Welsh groups host a UK national weapons training
weekend in Oystermouth castle near Swansea on the South Welsh coast. If you
are available and interested please read on...

Dear All,

As agreed with Paddy the training weekend this year will be the second
weekend in November i.e. 13th and 14th November.

If you want the opportunity to do two full days' weapons training, tests
etc. and run around a castle for the weekend this is for you.

Accommodation
A new scout hut has been booked for the nights of 12th and 13th Nov. The
cost to Regia is the same as the one we previously used. For those people
who came down last year and stayed in the city centre the new scout hut is
the same driving distance from the castle as the city. For those of you who
know Swansea it is in Killay. This hut is bigger than the previous one and
has a larger kitchen and more quiet areas. Access to the scout hut will be
from 4pm on the Friday until whenever on the Sunday.

Facilities:
At the scout hut: close to shops, pub and takeaways etc.
At the castle: in the middle of a high density residential, tourist, sailing
and drinking area so plenty of shops pubs and takeaways.
If you are coming down by car or even willing to use the local bus service
the city centre is accessible from both the castle and the scout hut.

Parking
At the scout hut: much easier and with access to a large surgery car park
from 6pm on the Friday and all times over the weekend.
At the castle: As in previous years interesting but possible.

Weather
It does that in South Wales. It can be wilful and wet down here but Swansea
and Oystermouth castle are right on the coast with all the benefits of the
North Atlantic drift i.e. it does not get that cold.

Maps, Directions etc.
All being well we'll get something scanned and on the group website (pretty
please to Leia) in the next couple of weeks. If you need paper directions
please ask.

Note
Oystermouth Castle as a 'resource' to train in is 'secured' by the members
of the Welsh that do much in the way of voluntary work for the Friends of
Oystermouth Castle Committee.
