The second season of open-area excavation at Bishopstone, to be jointly run
by the University of Kent and the Sussex Archaeological Society, will target
further remains from a Late Anglo-Saxon settlement and associated cemetery
identified on the village green in the shadow of the Anglo-Saxon minster
church of St Andrew's. 5-day training courses covering geophysics,
archaeological survey, excavation techniques, finds and environmental
sampling and historic landscape interpretation are offered at a cost of
£180; campsite accommodation is included in the price. Volunteers are also
welcomed, especially those able to stay for an extended period of three or
more weeks. For further information and on-line booking forms visit the
Bishopstone pages on the Sussex Archaeological Website: www.sussexpast.co.uk
