Although on the face of it lead based solder is a bad idea, in this context
there is little risk. The surface oxidises and it is then inert.

Many of us have lived all our lives in houses with lead cold water pipe.

Frankly, attempts to change the lead solder for something else will
definitely expose you to a vapour bearing dangerous compounds of lead and
the new solder will combine with the residue of the old to form unknown
compounds!

I'd avoid this myself..........
