BONE, ANTLER, & LEATHER

Antler can be obtained from state wildlife agencies that frequently pick up antlers after they drop or when found. Also deer processing houses have them in states that have a deer hunting season. These houses frequently sell the hides, hooves, bones, and antlers at very reasonable prices. Also check out petting zoos and animal sanctuaries that have deer and other horned animals; you might be able to get them for a donation to the facility.
For bone, you can get large beef and hog bones from wholesale meat dealers. Some restaurants and buffets sell the beef bones or even give them away. For really extraordinary bones, check with your local zoos and veterinary hospitals because when elephants, rhinos, horses, hippos, and other big animals die or have to be put down, the bodies are frequently given to a museum or veterinary school. You might be able to get bones, horns, hooves, and antlers for a donation or free.
Tandy Leather is not out of business but they closed all their retail shops. However, they are authorizing independently owned franchise shops again. In Tennessee, there is one in Memphis and one in Knoxville. You can probably get the list of authorized dealers from the Tandy Leather website.
