Sorry folks--accidentally hit the send button before I typed a reply =
last time.
The only tablet-weaving warping I've done that's simple is when I'm just =
warping a set of cards with the same threads in the same position--and =
then the turning sequences are the hard part. But maybe some of the =
experienced tablet-weavers have suggestions on how to make this step =
easier? I'd like to simplify this step too.
If your inkle loom can stand the strain, try tablet-weaving on that and =
see if that's easier. I have found that warping a card-weaving onto my =
inkle loom is very time-consuming, but I make up the time (and then =
some) in not having to ever comb out the threads. Getting the tension =
even is fairly easy too. This works best for a pattern that has the =
forward and back turning sequences fairly even. With long twist =
build-ups, you sometimes have to take the whole thing off the loom =
anyway. I do use my inkle loom as just a warping board for =
tablet-weaving sometimes too.
I want to make a warp-weighted loom and an Oseberg tablet-weaving loom =
too. Then again, maybe it'd be hard to figure out which project to do =
first and I'd never get anything done...?
We're only getting glimpses of spring here in MI. sigh.

Thanks, Jon. I will definitely check it out. Hazel's Dye project =
sounds exciting. :>)
Does Huck Lace [weaving] go back that far? Or among our people? [I'm =
warping up a project on the loom at the moment & was curious.]
I need to get off my duff & build that WW loom I've been threatening =
to do all winter. That way, I could have two weaving projects going at =
the same time. I also need to warp up the inkle loom. [Yes, I know it =
isn't a period way to weave inkle bands, but I'm not planning to take it =
out into public.]
Is there some point on the learning curve where tablet weaving warping =
becomes simple? I've only done 2 projects & I mutter & grumble all the =
way thru the warping. I feel like I'm all thumbs & there are gremlins =
in the warp. I'm sure a TW loom would help - something other than C =
clamps. &, maybe winding the warp on my mill?
Has it turned Spring anywhere? We're still expecting rain, snow, =
hail, mix & have had it for the past 3+ weeks w/ a few glorious days in =
between. It'll probably turn off 80*F overnight & we'll be gasping. <G>
