I bought a friend a book on spinning dog and cat hair--she has several dogs
and loves to knit.  Some ingenious person collected their dog's shed hair,
then made a little doggie coat for it out of its own hair...then wrote a
book.  Supposedly the trick is that dog and cat hair is shorter than sheep's
wool, so it's harder to spin.

So, you know, it *is* possible...
