As a fierce warrior type, one does not need the reaction of honest mirth
from ones foes. Open-faced laughter, clutching at each other and pointing
are guaranteed to discomfort the fighting man.

Perhaps the Egyptians to were reporting a travellers tale, a personal
amusement taken at the expense of the gullible.
