     LANISTA ANCIENT WARFARE ACADEMY

Lanista Ancient Warfare Academy was formed to promote a greater interest in,
knowledge of and affection for all martial aspects of the ancient British to
early Germanic cultures. Owned by Lorraine Evans, one of the country's
leading historians and weapons archaeologist, the academy does not share the
common view that our species has become more enlightened as it has advanced
in technological knowledge and material wealth. It is important to stress
that Lanista Ancient Warfare Academy is not a re-enactment society. There
are no membership fees. The academy's facilities and knowledge are open to
all.

The aims and objectives of the academy are twofold. Firstly, it aims to
bring together individuals or groups, who share a common belief in the
martial philosophies advocated by our ancestors. Not only will it provide
the opportunity to exchange ideas and benefit from the expertise offered,
the academy would also offer the chance to train in a safe environment. The
'fight academy' side will open in 2003.

Education and research provides the final component to the academy's long
term goals and it aims to become one of the country's leading areas for
study. As such, Lanista Ancient Warfare Academy is a strong supporter of
young people's education and has a vibrant school's policy. From Iron Age
warriors to Viking invaders, it provides an invaluable resource from which
education policy makers can call upon. In addition, a full adult education
programme will commence September 2003.
